AAAS Charles Valentine Riley Memorial Lecture – Call for Nominations

The Charles Valentine Riley Memorial Lecture is a prestigious event that addresses the environmental and societal challenges our planet faces, emphasizing agricultural innovation and its applications. This annual lecture is a collaboration between the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Charles Valentine Riley Memorial Foundation (RMF), and the World Food Prize Foundation (WFPF).

Nominate a Speaker for the 2025 Lecture

Nominations are now open for the 2025 AAAS Charles Valentine Riley Memorial Lecture, scheduled for Fall 2025. This is an opportunity to recognize and showcase an individual who has made outstanding scientific contributions or significant policy accomplishments with tangible societal impact.

The selected lecturer will receive an honorarium of $5,000, along with coverage for travel and lodging expenses.

Eligibility:

  • Nominations must be for individuals (not institutions).
  • Members of the Selection Committee and their immediate family, as well as staff from AAAS, RMF, and WFPF, are ineligible.

Submission Guidelines:

Nominations must be submitted as a single PDF and include:

  1. A letter of support (maximum 2 pages) containing:
    Nominator’s name, title, institutional affiliation, and email address.
    Nominee’s name, title, institutional affiliation, email address, and phone number.
    A summary (up to 500 words) highlighting the nominee’s accomplishments in agriculture and society.
    The nominee’s curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages).
