Bio

Suat Irmak, Ph.D., P.E., is Professor and Head of the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Graduate Program Head at The Pennsylvania State University. A Fellow of AAAS, ASABE, and ASCE–EWRI, he leads research at the intersection of soil and water resources engineering, agro-ecosystem water management, and climate impacts on water resources and productivity. His work spans measurement and modeling of evapotranspiration and surface energy/water vapor balance, soil moisture dynamics and soil physical properties, irrigation science and engineering, and nutrient management to improve water and soil quality. He also advances applications in specialty cropping systems, plant phenotyping, and agricultural IoT technologies to support data-driven, sustainable agriculture.
