We are excited to welcome Heidi Schouten as the 2025 CERSA Summer Intern with the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST). Heidi joins us through the CERSA Regulatory Affairs Internship Program, bringing her passion for science communication and public policy to support CAST’s mission of delivering credible, science-based information to policymakers and stakeholders.
During her internship, Heidi will focus on creating and curating resources from CAST publications that are valuable to professionals working in regulatory affairs. Her work will include:
- Developing social media content, resource catalogs, and multimedia materials to support science-informed decision-making.
- Assisting with the launch of CAST publications, engaging with leaders across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.
- Drafting a strategic plan to expand CAST’s reach and impact in the regulatory community.
- Conducting surveys and assessments to identify how CAST resources are used and where they can have the greatest impact.
- Building a database of subject matter experts and legislative contacts in agricultural regulation.
- Through this experience, Heidi will gain valuable project management skills, deepen her understanding of regulatory affairs, and expand her professional network.
