In this role, Chris leads the organization in fulfilling its mission to assemble, interpret and communicate credible, science-based information regionally, nationally and internationally to legislators, regulators, policymakers, the media, the private sector and the public.
In his free time, he enjoys volunteering, exercising, reading, gardening and traveling with his family.
Director of Marketing and Communications
Carlos leads CAST’s marketing and communications strategy, enhancing visibility through multimedia content, publications, and digital outreach. He works closely with leadership to shape CAST’s voice, ensure brand consistency, and engage diverse audiences across platforms.
In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar and exploring the mind of David Lynch.
Programs and Engagement Manager
Kaylee supports CAST’s mission by coordinating programs, events, and member engagement initiatives. She works closely with students, volunteers, and organizational partners to foster collaboration and enhance participation across CAST activities. With a strong focus on logistics and community building, Kaylee helps bring CAST’s events and outreach efforts to life.
Content Assistant
Alley is a sophomore at Iowa State University majoring in Animal Science, with a focus on earning a Swine Certification. Originally from Webster City, Iowa, she grew up on her family’s farm, gaining hands-on experience in raising and showing pigs. As CAST’s Content Assistant, Alley supports communications efforts through writing, editing, and digital content creation. In her free time, she enjoys playing intramural volleyball and pickleball and spending time outdoors.
Membership and Engagement Assistant
Savanna is a sophomore at Iowa State University majoring in Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies with a co-major in Political Science. Originally from Livermore, California, she grew up active in agriculture—showing cattle and participating in her local FFA chapter. At CAST, she supports membership and engagement efforts through outreach, communications, and member services. Savanna is passionate about agricultural policy and rural development and stays active on campus through her involvement in Sigma Alpha and the Iowa State Legislative Ambassador program.
Digital Media Assistant
Rachel is a junior at Iowa State University majoring in Agricultural Studies with emphasis areas in Agronomy, Agricultural Communication, and Marketing. She is also pursuing a double major in International Agriculture. As CAST’s Digital Media Assistant, Rachel supports the organization’s online presence through content creation, video editing, and social media strategy. Her passion for communications, public relations, and marketing has grown throughout her time at Iowa State, and she brings that enthusiasm to promoting CAST’s mission across digital platforms.
Publications Assistant
Jennifer is CAST’s Publications Assistant, supporting the development and production of CAST papers, reports, and related materials. She assists with editing, formatting, and coordinating drafts to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy throughout the publication process. With a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, Jennifer plays a key role in helping CAST communicate sound science to a broad audience.
Regulatory Affairs Assistant
Heidi supports CAST’s work at the intersection of agricultural science and policy as the Regulatory Affairs Assistant. She assists with research, monitoring regulatory developments, and helping prepare materials that inform CAST’s science-based responses to policy and regulatory issues. With a strong interest in science communication and public policy, Heidi contributes to CAST’s mission of providing accurate, objective information to decision-makers and stakeholders.
