From October 20 to 22, CAST was at the 2026 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. This year’s Dialogue had the theme “Before Hunger Wins” and marked the 40th anniversary of the World Food Prize. It brought together scientists, policymakers, farmers, business leaders, and students from around the world to discuss the future of global food security.
For three days, the CAST booth was a meeting point for conversations about agricultural science. Visitors picked up our animal, plant, and food charms. Each charm represents one of the three CAST workgroups behind our publications: Animal Science, Food Science, and Plant & Soil Sciences. Many visitors stayed to talk about how credible, accessible science can inform decisions on food and agriculture.
On October 20, during the Dialogue, CAST and India’s National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) signed a memorandum of understanding. It sets up an initial five-year framework for educational programs, publications, and scientific exchanges between the United States and India. The two organizations will also explore a recurring joint presence at future Borlaug Dialogues. Read more about the agreement.
We thank everyone who visited our booth, shared ideas, and took the time to talk with us. We also thank the World Food Prize Foundation for 40 years of convening the global community working to end hunger.
A special thank-you goes to Kaylee Kleitsch, Programs and Engagement Manager, and Savanna Gratny, Membership and Engagement Assistant, for their work organizing and staffing the CAST booth.
We look forward to seeing you at next year’s Borlaug Dialogue.
