The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) is seeking a Publications Assistant Intern to join our communications team. This part-time, paid internship offers a hands-on opportunity to help coordinate and deliver science-based publications that inform agricultural policy, education, and public understanding.

📝 About the Role

As the Publications Assistant Intern, you’ll work closely with CAST staff, volunteer experts, and external authors to support the development and release of CAST publications. From tracking timelines in Asana to organizing contributor materials and assisting with rollout planning, this role provides exposure to the full life cycle of science publishing in a nonprofit setting.

📌 Key Details

  • Position Type: Part-Time Internship (15–20 hours/week)
  • Location: Remote or Hybrid (Ames, Iowa optional)
  • Compensation: $14/hour
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Reports To: Director of Marketing and Communications

🔍 What You’ll Do

  • Support project management for CAST publications
  • Communicate with authors, reviewers, and work group chairs
  • Organize bios, headshots, permissions, and contributor forms
  • Assist with DOI documentation and final publication prep
  • Coordinate with CAST’s Content and Programs teams to align release timelines
