The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Borlaug CAST Communication Award (BCCA)—a prestigious honor recognizing professionals who excel in communicating the importance of agricultural and food sciences.

Established in honor of Dr. Norman E. Borlaug and Dr. Charles A. Black, the award celebrates individuals who are making a lasting impact in the public understanding of agriculture, environment, and food systems through exceptional science communication.

Key Dates:

  • Nominations Open: March 25, 2025

  • 🕛 Deadline to Submit: May 1, 2025

  • 📢 Winner Announced: Early June 2025

  • 🏆 Award Ceremony: October 21–23, 2025, at the World Food Prize events in Des Moines, Iowa

Who Should Be Nominated?
We’re looking for mid-career professionals—scientists, engineers, technologists, educators, or communicators—who:

  • Are actively advancing agricultural or food production science.

  • Have made significant national/international contributions.

  • Passionately communicate science to policymakers, media, and the public.

  • Use written work, presentations, or media (including digital platforms) to share their message.

Award Recognition:
The recipient will be honored during the World Food Prize events and deliver a featured presentation. They will also receive a custom bronze sculpture titled “A World Supported by Plants and Animals” by artist Jerry Palen.
