CAST-SP29_National-Pork-Board.png
This collaborative CAST and National Pork Board publication reviews literature on swine manure management systems, bacterial and viral hazards, and the fate and transport of zoonotic parasite pathogens during manure treatment, storage, and land application. While most microbes in swine manure are not pathogenic to humans, swine manure management systems must prevent contamination through environmental pathways that could transport zoonotic pathogens to water resources. The publication includes an appendix and a comprehensive reference section with more than 400 citations.
